Here is an algebra question on solving for the value of a variable. More algebra problems are solved for your better practice.

Topic : Solve for x

Showing cross multiplication procedure and solving an algebraic expression to find the value of an variable.

Question : Solve and find the value of x.

x-4 x+1
----- = -----
x x-1

Solution :

x-4 x+1
----- = -----
x x-1

x-4)(x-1)= x(x+1)
x2-4x-x+4 = x2+x
-5x+4 = x
-x -x
-6x+4 = 0
6x = 4
6 6
x = 4/6 = 2/3
x = 2/3
