Graph is diagramming form of a set of dots, vertices are joined and curved at the edges and it is used to understand the data. It helps to find different in the business, the weather forecast, performance of a student in school etc etc.
Now that i have briefed you with what is a graph and what are its uses, i will explain the different types of graphs.
The different types of graphs are as follows:-
- Bar Graph
- Pie chart
- Line graph
- Pictographs
- Cosmographs
- Histograph
Bar Graph:-Bar graphs compare data in a simple format consisting of rectangular bars. The bars can be vertical or horizontal. It can be in numbers or words.
Pie chart:- Pie chart is a popular form of data comparison, consisting of a circle that is split into parts.
Line Graphs:- This shows lines plotted on the graph which is connected to each other to form a line. In Line graph, each variable is plotting with an axis. It has a vertical, horizontal axis. They are good at showing specific values of data, meaning that given one variable the other can easily be determined. They illustrate trends in data clearly, meaning that they obviously show how one variable is affected by the other as it increases or decreases. They could also be data on a multiple series line graph.
Pictograph:- In this graph pictures are used as data. These diagrams, which use small picture symbols to compare information, are a media favorite; statisticians, though, do not share the sentiment.
Cosmographs:- A cosmograph is a type of chart that shows comparisons. In doing so, it makes life and work easier. If you want to prepare an input-output model for your organization, or compare the features of a geographical region through a simple visual, cosmographs come in handy.
Histograph:- It is a different kind of graph. The data is in the form of numbers in order.
So now, did you understand the different types of graphs and there uses. I am sure you will be able to identify the different kinds of graphs that are shown to you. Check out in Televisions, Newspaper and many more places and start identify graphs. This is a practice which will help you in all walks of your life. Let me the comments on this post :-)
