Getting to know matrices

Do you know what are matrices? No, Have you forgotten? I have mentioned the details of matrices in my previous post, check that out to improve your knowledge on matrices, believe me its very interesting and important concept of mathematics. Well i will explain it to you. The definition of matrices is a regular array of numbers which are arranged in rows and columns are called Matrices. Different types of matrices are square matrices, row matrices, column matrices, unit matrices or identity matrices and Null or zero matrices. Now i will explain the concept Matrices with more details.

Equality of matrices:- If the elements of two corresponding matrices are equal it is called as equality of matrices. In simple words, the two matrices which are same are called as equality of matrices.

Addition of Matrices:-

To add two matrices we need to check a few things as they are mentioned below:-

  • They need to be in the same order.
  • If they are in the same order we need to add the corresponding elements.
  • By adding these matrices, the matrix you get will also be matrix of the same order.

Subtraction of Matrices:-

The same steps are required as addition of matrices while doing the subtraction of matrices.

I have explained you the addition of matrices and subtraction of matrices, going forward i will explain you the multiplication of matrices also, but before that i want you to go through this post again so that you understand this well.

Multiplication of Matrices:- We can multiply two matrices when the column of one matrices is equal to the row of other matrices. Elements of rows of matrix A are multiplied by the corresponding elements of columns of B and we get AB.

This post and my previous post will give you the details of matrices, it will help you understand the concept well and help you to be an expert in matrices, i will solve some problems in matrices in my next post and this will help you. Let me know how informative you find this post. Don't forget, leave your comments:-)....
