In this post i have solved few problems on matrices, well in my last post i have given you the introduction to Matrices. Lets solve a few examples on matrices and augumented matrices. (An augmented matrix contains the co-efficients and constants from a system of equations).

Example 1:-

1) If = ,then find x?

Solution to solving matrices online:

since the given matrices are equal,their corresponding elements must be equal.

equating the corresponding elements, implies

3 - x² = 3 - 8

x² = 8 then

Answer:- x = [+-] 2 [sqrt(2)] .

Example2:-

Find the values of a, b, c, and d from the following matrix equation:

= .

Solution:

since the given matrices are equal,their corresponding elements must be equal.

equating the corresponding elements, implies

2a + b = 4,

5c – d = 11,

a – 2b = – 3,

4c + 3d = 24,

By Simplification,

Answers:

a = 1,

b = 2,

c = 3 and

d = 4.

The next example which is given below is on augumented matrix

Example 3:

Solution:-

x -4y +2z = 5

y - 6z = -4

z = 0

Answer: (-11, -4, 0)
