Place Value

We have been using numbers from our KG classes right but do we all know what are values of numbers or their place values. Lets learn there place value today

Firstly i will give you the definition of Place value and i will give you the example for the same.

Definition of Place Value:- The value of each number or digit is called the place value. If they do not have a decimal point they are named as Ones, tens, hundreds and so on. If they have a decimal then the first number after decimal is called the tenth digit, hundredth, thousandth and so on.

Below i have an example to explain the term Place value better.

Identify the place value of 45.216

Here we see 45 is the whole number and 216 is the decimal value. The place value for these numbers are

4 -Four tens

5 - Five ones

After decimal point

2 - two tenths

1 - One hundredths

6 -six thousandths

Look into some newspapers and you will find some numbers in it. Take these numbers and write their place value. This is a good exercise to practice on place value. Leave your comment and wait for my next post.
