Basic number property has three properties in it such as distributive property, associative property and the third one being commutative property. We have already worked on distributive property and associative property today lets work on the third property that is commutative property.
Commutative property:- The word commutative means moving around. Commutative property refers to moving the numbers. It is a property that refers to numbers that can be added or multiplied in any order with the product remaining the same.
Example on commutative property
a) 2+3=3+2. Here we can add them either ways like 2+3 or 3+2 which gives us the result as 5
b) 4*7=7*4. Here when we add 4*7 or 7*4 we get the answer as 28 therefore, this property doesnot regroup but just move the numbers but the product is the same.
c) 4+m+n= m+4+n= m+n+4= n+m+4= 4+n+m
Look at the third example the same numbers were written in four different ways but the result still remains the same. To use commutative property we just need to move the numbers or move their places but the result seem to be the same.
This was all about commutative property a very interesting concept in mathematics. I will post more and more informative post as this but you need to let me know if you find it interesting. :-)
