We have learn t Decimals and Fractions in two different post, the topic for the day Convert Decimal to Fraction this is the basic concept used in mathematics. Lets discuss more on this. We will solve a few examples on this and understand it.
Firstly i will brief you again with decimals and fractions.
Decimal :- In number representation decimal is a form and it is represented using a dot symbol. Every fraction which has the denominator 10 can be written using decimal notation. For eg:- 1/10 can be written as 0.1
Fraction:- Similar to decimal, fraction is also a form in number representation. Fractions have two parts numerator and a denominator, we use a bar to separate them. For example 5/ 25 here 5 is the numerator and 25 is the denominator.
We have learn t that decimals and fractions both represent one thing in common, that it is a number that is not exactly a whole number. Now lets learn how to convert decimal into fraction by solving an example below. We will solve this step by step.
Example No. 1:-
Convert 0.144 to fraction.
Step No.1: First divide the given decimal number by 1
0.144/1
Step No.2: As we see the decimal number has three numbers after the decimal point we have to multiple both the numerator and denominator by 1000(if there are two numbers after decimal point we have to multiple both the numerator and denominator by 100)
0.144/1 * 1000/1000
= 144/1000
Step No.3: We need to check in what number both the numerator and denominator can be divided, we see it is 8 in this case.
Simplify 144/1000= 18/25
Therefore the answer for 0.144= 18/25
Using the similar steps below we have solved a few examples to convert decimal into fractions.
Example No.2:
a) 0.176= 22/125
b) 0.64= 8/25
Simple examples using simple steps, let me know if you need some more examples and i will post more. This will help you in learning the basics of mathematics. If you some topics which you need help, put in your comments and we will work on it.
