Defintion of a Fraction:- Fractions is a number that represents a equal part of an whole object.
Example: It is represented as a/b here a represents the numerator and b represents the denominator. The denominator is not equal to zero. Numerator represents the number of equal parts and the denominator tells the number of parts which tells us the whole.
As you are clear with the definition of fractions, now lets together discuss on different types of fractions with a few examples.
Different types of Fractions: The three different types of fractions are as mentioned below.
a) Proper Fractions:- It is a fraction where the numerator is less than the denominator.
Example:- 3/5, 1/3, 2/7, 5/7 and so on.
b) Improper Fractions:- It is a fraction where the numerator is either equal or more than the denominator.
Example:- 4/3, 5/5, 12/4, 5/3 and so on.
c) Mixed Fractions:- A fraction which is a combination of a whole number and proper fraction is called a mixed fraction.
