Solve problems on addition of Fractions

We have already learn t definition of fraction, different types of fractions in a very easy method in my previous post. Lets learn more about it such as how to solve fractions. Below i have a few problems mentioned which will show you easy method of addition of fractions.

Addition of fraction:-

a) 5/8+2/8
Here we see the denominator is the same therefore we need to add only the numerator.
5/8+2/8=5+2/8
=7/8 (answer)

b) Add 3/9 and 4/9
= 3/9+4/9= 3+4/9(as mentioned earlier if the denominators are the same they need to be written the same)
=7/9 (answer)

Now what do you think should be done if the denominators are not the same or they are different. Lets look into that as well.

c) 2/5+5/8
Here we see the denominator are different therefore firstly we will have to find the LCM of the denominator.
LCM of 5 and 8 is 40.
=2/5+5/8= 2(8)+5(5)/40
=16+25/40
=41/40
therefore the answer is 41/40
