Lets firstly, just brief about improper fraction and mixed fraction.
Improper fraction:- The fraction where the numerator is greater than the denominator. The fraction is greater than or equal to one. eg:- 12/5, 21/2, 16/13
Mixed Fraction:- The combination of a whole number and a fraction is called as mixed fraction.
eg:-
6 11/4
Below you can find the steps that has to be followed to convert mixed fraction to improper fraction and following is an example to help you better.
Converting Mixed fraction to Improper fraction
step1 : Multiply whole number (W) and denominator (D)--> WxD
step2: add Remainder (R)
step3: write denominator as it is
Example:
convert 3 5/9 into improper fraction
W = 3 , D = 9 and R=5
step1 : W X D = 3 x 9 = 27
step2: add R==> 27+ 5 =32
step 3: write denominator 9 as it is
