Proportion:- A proportion is an equation with a ratio on each side. It is a statement that two ratios are equal.
a, b, c and d are said to be proportion if a : b = c : d.
a and d are called the extremes, b and c are called the means.
a, b, c and d are called first proportion, second proportion, third proportion and fourth proportion respectively.
The Properties of proportions are: Invertendo, Alternendo, Componendo, Dividendo, Componendo and Dividendo.
Solving Proportion is when one number in the proportion is unknown.
Cross products may be used to solve the proportion.
I will explain this by solving the proportion below:-
Example 1: Find the unknown value in the proportion
20: x = 4: 5
20: x = 4: 5
20 / x = 4 / 5
4x = 100
x = 100 / 4
x = 25.
Now, you have learn t how to solve the proportion right, This is a very easy exercise to practice and i have explained it in simple words. Try them out and let me know how you feel, leave your comments and if you have any specific problems to solve let me know i will reply back to you.
